Made in America:  Lyndon B. Johnson once said: “Art is a nation’s most precious heritage. For it is in our works of art that we reveal to ourselves and to others the inner vision which guides us as a nation.”

Our country has experienced serious changes during the last several months.  Has the character of our nation changed or is everything new just a reflection of our past?  Upstream Gallery is inviting artists to use their insight to provide answers to this question in works on or made from paper that engage with the state of our nation and world today. Representational and abstract styles are both welcomed. Drawing, painting, printmaking, collage and sculpture are all welcome for this juried show.

Eligible Work: Artists are invited to submit 2-D or 3-D work that is primarily paper based and made by hand, not digitally. Successful entries will demonstrate clear thematic relationships among two or more pieces. Photography is not eligible for this exhibition; we hold a separate show for photographic work.

Specifications: All work must be suitably framed. Maximum framed size may not exceed 40 x 60 inches. Accepted pieces must be wired for hanging. The gallery reserves the right to reject poorly presented pieces.

IMPORTANT DATES

Deadline for Entries: May 25th by midnight.

All entries must be made via SUBMITTABLE

Artist notification within the week following the application deadline.

Friday, June 13th, 2025: All shipped work must be received no later than 5:00pm.

Monday, June 16th 2025: Delivery of artwork to gallery by local artists, 10:00am 2:00pm.

Thursday, June 19th 2025: Opening day of exhibition, 12:30pm-5:30pm.

Sunday, June 22nd, 2025: Opening reception, 2:00pm-5:00pm.

Sunday, July 6th: Last day of exhibition, 12:30pm-5:30pm.

Monday, July 7th, 2025: Local artists pick up work from gallery, 10:00am-3:00pm.
