"I work in a variety of media and am interested in both representational and abstract forms. Bold color unifies the broad range of my work. Similar strategies of building up layers of imagery and color are used with various materials and each medium informs and influences the others. My themes are widespread and include sexuality, body image, male camaraderie, cars and pure abstraction. Much of my imagery is derived from 20th Century popular culture.
"My most recent work continues with these themes, using collage and encaustic paint. For this body of work I have spent countless hours searching for images in everything from car magazines to body building journals to Popular Science and National Geographic from the 1930s through the 70s. Found and family photographs add another interesting dynamic as do some of my own drawings and etchings. Not surprisingly, layering and transparent color are an important feature of the work."
