Daniel van Benthuysen spent 29 years as a graphic designer, editorial art director and finally director of design at Newsday, the Long Island Newspaper.

He currently teaches courses in visual journalism in the School of Communication at Hofstra University.

His background includes a degree in art from Tulane University and ongoing work as a monitor at the Art Students League of New York. Portraiture as well as still life and landscape painting are all fair game for van Benthuysen.

He has exhibited on Long Island and in New York.
